Data Protection Authority

The DPA is set to function as an agency that is entrusted with a mix of regulation-making, supervision and enforcement, and adjudication functions. DPA’s authority will extend to anyone who deals with personal data.

India does not have a national regulatory body for the protection of personal data, hence the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology is responsible for administering the IT Act and issuing the rules and other clarifications under the IT Act.
